We would like to inform you of the latest developments at Kriek Helicopters. We have decided to expand our tourism division even further, to cater for local and international visitors to Kimberley, Upington and the rest of the Northern Cape.
Since the start of operation we have employed a quality assurance system and we are now an ISO 9001:2000 company. We operate according to strict safety standards and procedures and still remain accident free after 6 years of flying.

We have been involved extensively in the wildlife industry with the helicopters being used for game darting and game census. It is a proven management tool and the best darting platform. During the last years we also expanded the operation to cater for security transport needs and executive transport for the mining industry. We also focused more on filming and photography, this is the most important role of our Upington helicopter. The Upington helicopter is an exciting development as it is the first helicopter in Upington to be operated by a licensed air service license holder like Kriek Helicopters (Pty) Ltd. This helicopter is used for filming, photography, game counts and tourism. The Upington helicopter is flown by Johann Kriek during commercial operations.
We currently have helicopters in Kimberley, Upington, Johannesburg, Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, Durban, East London, Nelspruit, Polokwane, Namibia, Botswana and Zambia. Some of these helicopters are directly operated by Kriek Helicopters and the rest are operated by fully licensed operators working with our Heli Alliance system.

Big Hole operations – It is proving to be a very popular scenic flight
We have recently launched a new helicopter tourism project at the De Beers Big Hole mine museum in Kimberley. We registered a temporary helipad on the Big Hole premises to offer flights to visitors on certain days. The clients include local and international guests and it’s proving to be a very popular activity. The process took +/- 2 years but we now have exclusive rights to operate helicopters from the Big Hole premises. The tour includes an over flight of the Big Hole and other holes in Kimberley with detailed information about the history.
The season is now changing and we are having cooler days leading up to the winter months. This is the best and peak time for game capture due to the cool weather. We have managed to keep our rates the same as last year for the time being and we expect a lot of game work this season. We wish you all the best whether you are involved in the wildlife, mining, tourism or any other industry. Be assured, we will be there to cater for your helicopter needs!
