Community involvement

Kriek Helicopter supports the local communities by providing part time and full time employment at Mattanu Private Game Reserve and other businesses.  Helicopters are only used for sub charter purposes which are SA registered and we support local aircraft owners.  We promote the areas of our operation by means of tourism, which has many positive spin off effects and leads to job creation.

During the course of our operation, numerous people have been helped out by the helicopter service at no charge.  The helicopter has been used to control runaway fires and to make dreams come true.  We have worked in conjunction with “Reach for a Dream” and other organizations to make dreams come to, especially for the little ones.

The latest person to benefit from the services was the late Mr. Motsamai at age 82.  His dream was to fly in a helicopter, but financially it was very difficult for him.  His dream became reality when one of our pilots took him for a free flight in a R22 and later in a R44 helicopter.  He was very excited and the local newspaper did an article to give him recognition.

Environmental & Community projects

The latest project was a greening project where Kriek Helicopters donated trees for planting at schools. The company selected schools in Kimberley, Bloemfontein and Upington to launch the project. Kriek Helicopters contacted Food & Trees for Africa, a social enterprise, to do a carbon footprint calculation. This was done to establish the number of trees to be planted, to offset the companies Co2 impact on the environment. Kriek Helicopters donated twice the number of trees needed to offset it's emissions. The project is ongoing and more trees will be donated as the company grows.
